Chicken or Liver Dog Training Treats

Ingredients:

  • 500g chicken breast or liver (you can also mix the two)

  • 1 egg

  • 1/2 cup oats (optional for texture)

  • 1/4 cup water (or as needed)

  • 1 tbsp coconut oil (optional for added moisture)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 150°C (300°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.

  2. Prepare the meat: If using liver, rinse it under cold water. For chicken breast, cut it into small chunks.

  3. Blend the meat: In a food processor, combine the chicken or liver with the egg and oats (if using). Blend until you get a smooth paste. Add water gradually if needed to reach a spreadable consistency.

  4. Spread the mixture: Pour the mixture onto the prepared baking tray and use a spatula to spread it evenly, about 1 cm thick.

  5. Bake: Place the tray in the oven and bake for 20-30 minutes. The time may vary depending on how thinly you spread the mixture and how dry you want the treats to be. For chewier treats, bake for less time; for drier treats, bake a little longer.

  6. Cool and cut: Once baked, let the treats cool completely. Cut into small, bite-sized squares or strips suitable for training.

  7. Store: Store the treats in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week, or freeze them for longer storage.
